Games Where You Get to be Annoying in a Whimsical Way

The following indie games are among some of my favorites as they can be quite cathartic after a long day. In most games I always like to be the hero and have a good reputation but on occasion its nice to cause a little chaos.

With the exception of the last game on the list, though there’s a charm to it, there isn’t any gore or evil to defeat. They are all casual games that are hilariously cheeky and you get to be a mischievous nuisance, all in good fun!

Rain on Your Parade

Travel the world as a mischievous cloud set to rain on everyone’s parade! Unlock new methods of causing mayhem and destruction across a wide range of short and sweet levels each with their own unique objectives. This is the ultimate schadenfreude simulator.

Developed by Unbound Creations, the game will only be releasing in 2021 on Steam, but it has a free demo to try out now. You’ll even get the chance to customize the face of your cloud and choose its hat!

Donut County

Donut County is a story-based physics puzzle game where you play as an ever-growing hole in the ground. Meet cute characters, steal their trash, and throw them in a hole. If you enjoy Katamari Damacy where you roll everything up into a ball, you’ll enjoy doing the opposite!

Developed by Ben Esposito and published Annapurna Interactive (What Remains of Edith Finch), the game is available on Steam, GOG, PS4, and iOS.

Untitled Goose Game

Untitled Goose Game is a slapstick-stealth-sandbox, where you are a goose let loose on an unsuspecting village. The goose’s movements are so perfectly animated and the classical music plays well with your steps and actions!

It’s developed by House House and published by Panic and is available on the Epic Games Store, the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.

Catlateral Damage

Catlateral Damage is a first-person destructive cat simulator where you play as a cat on a rampage, knocking as much stuff onto the ground as possible. The game is a little weird but a must-have for any cat lover.

Developed by Fire Hose Games, is available on Steam here. Furthermore, the game will have a definitive version in 2020 Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered.

Death Coming

Death Coming is a non-linear puzzle game where you must harvest human souls ‘Final Destination’ style. However, pesky mortals are not your only problem, as the Agents of Light will do everything they can to stop you.

Developed by NEXT Studios, this game is available on Steam and iOS. You’ll want to keep replaying this game and see just how high of a death count you can get!
